Values only matter at the point of decision: which supplier to drop, which order to refuse, what to tell a customer at four in the afternoon when the truck will not arrive. Each of ours is written as something you can observe someone doing.
Agreed with the executive team in 2024 and used in hiring, performance reviews and supplier selection. Nothing on this list is aspirational.
Bad news travels first. A delay, a deviation or a failed test reaches the customer before it reaches an internal report.
The person who takes the order stays with it through production, documentation and delivery. Problems are not handed sideways.
Claims are supported by a certificate, a trial or a test result. If we have not measured it, we say so plainly.
Volume never justifies an unverified end use, an incomplete file or a counterparty that fails screening.
Lower-hazard alternates, less packaging waste and safer handling are part of the technical proposal, not a separate initiative.
Every value costs something. These are the trades we have decided to accept, so that nobody has to guess in the moment.
a competitor quotes an earlier one and wins the order on paper.
the batch was within tolerance and nobody would have noticed.
the volume is significant and the margin is good.
the larger one carries more revenue and less handling for us.
The code of ethics turns these values into obligations for every employee, agent and contractor. It is issued at induction and re-signed annually.
Anyone, inside or outside Chemtive, can report a suspected breach confidentially and without retaliation.
If a value never changes an outcome, it is not a value. These are the four processes where ours are formally applied.
Every interview panel scores candidates against the five values with a written example, not an impression.
Screening, end-use checks and documentation completeness are a gate before an order is confirmed.
Principals sign the supplier code and are re-audited on a risk-based cycle, not on relationship length.
Half of every manager's review is conduct: escalation quality, honesty of forecasts, treatment of the team.
Comments collected during the 2025 internal review. Portraits and attributions to be confirmed with Chemtive before publication.
“The fastest way to lose standing here is to let a customer find out from their own receiving dock.”
“We have turned down orders that would have made the quarter. Nobody was asked to justify it twice.”
“Technical rigour here means you are allowed to say the data is not good enough yet.”
We hire chemists, planners, regulatory specialists and account managers who prefer being accountable to being comfortable.
