Board-approved targets with published baselines, quarterly review, annual external assurance, and a plain statement of where we are behind and why.
Sustainability in distribution is not a communications position, it is an operating constraint. Every drum we move carries a carbon cost, every supplier we onboard carries a human-rights exposure, and every formulation we recommend either raises or lowers the hazard profile of the product it ends up in. Those three facts are the whole agenda.
So our commitments are written the way a customer specification is written: a number, a date, a baseline year and a boundary. Twenty-two commitments across nine pillars, each with one accountable executive owner. Nothing in the set depends on buying offsets to look finished.
Progress is reviewed quarterly by the ESG steering committee and twice yearly at board level. The annual report carries limited assurance under ISAE 3000, and the underlying inventory is available to customers who need it for their own disclosure.
Twenty-two commitments covering emissions, energy, waste, water, supplier assessment, safety and portfolio composition. Each names the metric, the target year and the baseline it is measured from, so a reader can check the arithmetic rather than trust the adjective.
2021 is our baseline year for climate metrics and 2023 for supply-chain metrics, where the first complete assessment data exists. The boundary covers wholly-owned sites and any contracted blending partner producing to Chemtive specification, because a target that excludes toll manufacturing excludes most of our production.
The steering committee meets quarterly with the pillar owners, reviews the metric pack, and escalates anything off track to the board. Sustainability performance is part of the executive scorecard, not a separate report presented after the numbers.
We report against GRI and prepare to ESRS, with a GHG inventory assured to limited assurance. Where a figure is estimated rather than measured, as is still true of parts of Scope 3, it is labelled as an estimate with the method stated.
Metric, baseline, boundary and target year agreed with the pillar owner and approved at board level.
Site and category plans executed against a named budget line, not a general intention.
Data collected, checked against source records and reviewed by the steering committee.
Published with assurance, including a plain account of anything behind plan.
A product carbon footprint, a supplier audit status, a substitution study, or a completed customer ESG questionnaire. We answer within two working days and name the person handling it.
