PEOPLE & PLANET

The people in it, and the place it happens.

Process safety and wellbeing on one side; water, waste, emissions to air and local biodiversity on the other. Both measured at site level, because that is where they occur.

WHERE WE STAND

Handling hazardous chemistry safely is the licence to operate everything else. Our sites run under Responsible Care principles with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification, and process-safety events are reported and reviewed with the same seriousness as injuries, whether or not anyone was hurt.

The planet half of this pillar is deliberately local. Water withdrawal, effluent quality, emissions to air, waste routing and the condition of the land around a terminal are site-level facts, and they are managed by site-level plans with named owners rather than a group average that hides the outliers.

The people half runs wider than safety: fair pay, training hours, an inclusive hiring process and a functioning grievance channel. A distributor is a people business dressed as a logistics business.

Process safety and Responsible Care

Hazard studies before commissioning, permit-to-work discipline, containment and secondary containment on every tank, and near-miss reporting treated as data rather than blame.

WHAT THIS INCLUDES
•
Hazard study before line commissioning
•
Permit-to-work and lock-out discipline
•
Near-miss and process-safety event reporting

Health, wellbeing and inclusion

Occupational health surveillance for exposed roles, mental-health provision, structured training hours per employee, and inclusive hiring measured rather than asserted.

WHAT THIS INCLUDES
•
Occupational health surveillance
•
Training hours tracked per employee
•
Pay-equity review and inclusive hiring targets

Water stewardship

Blending and cleaning are the water-intensive steps. We meter them, recycle rinse water where product compatibility allows, and treat effluent to permit before discharge.

WHAT THIS INCLUDES
•
Metering at line level
•
Rinse-water recovery where compatible
•
Effluent treated and tested against permit
IMAGE: WASTE AND POLLUTION PREVENTION
WASTE

N04

Waste and pollution prevention

Segregation at source, recovery over disposal, and licensed routing for everything hazardous, with a running target on landfill diversion rather than a one-off audit.

WHAT THIS INCLUDES
•
Segregation at source with licensed carriers
•
Recovery preferred to incineration and landfill
•
VOC and dust abatement on packing lines

Communities and emergency response

Every terminal maintains an emergency plan agreed with local services, and we run joint exercises rather than filing the plan and hoping.

WHAT THIS INCLUDES
•
Emergency plans agreed with local services
•
Joint exercises with fire and rescue
•
Local liaison and complaint response

WHAT WE ASK OF PARTNERS
✓
Share site-specific handling constraints before first delivery
✓
Accept joint safety briefings for driver and intake teams
✓
Return packaging through the reuse programme where offered
✓
Report incidents involving our material so we can investigate together
HOW IT RUNS

Prevent, detect, respond, learn.

01
Prevent

Hazard studies, containment design and competence checks before a line runs.

BEFORE OPERATION
02
Detect

Metering, monitoring and near-miss reporting that surfaces problems while they are small.

CONTINUOUS
03
Respond

Site emergency plans rehearsed with local services and a defined escalation path.

REHEARSED
04
Learn

Root-cause review shared across all sites, not just the one where it happened.
